Nanobits...nanotechnology for dummies or just a great introductory kit?

Hello everybody,

I'm the lucky guy granted the opportunity to finish off and distribute the award winning nanotechnology education kit Nanobits. With input from 3 prominant Melbourne Universities under the stewardship of Nanovic, the internationally benchmarked kit has got off to a flying start having been adopted by numerous schools, families and business-people following its COMS launch by Minister Allen.

It's particularly exciting because nanobits takes the mystique and intimidation out of nano for everyday people, giving access to those who might initially have shunned away from such an odd term.

Now if you didn't know already nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary enabling technology so that means you have to feel comfortable right across the sciences if you want to really embrace this thing. The only problem with this is that most of us have been only been trained in one maybe two branches.

What I like most about nanobits is it allows even the proudest, most pompous to take it back to the privacy of their own home because nanobits delivers a broad introduction to the principles of nano right across Industrial, Biomedical, Environmental, and Textiles applications. The kit includes:
* a 56 page Manual
* a CD ROM with 8 powerful flash nano animations
* Nano Material to support 12 kitchen bench experiences

Most importantly Nanobits puts Nano Ethics front and center. You know I had almost lost faith in the human race's ability to organise itself until I attended one of my first nano conferences. I was staggered to learn and hear one of the key-note speakers was a philosopher and what's more he made sense! It was brilliant and whilst some of the stiffer less progressive members of the audience struggled with his challenging persona, one could not help but think the science community and civilisation in general had taken a giant step forward.

Nanotechnology excites me enormously because of the promise to do so much more with so much less....a virtual nirvana for an industrial engineer.

Please share your thoughts and hopes for nano with me....I look forward to any comments or questions you might have.

Farewell for now, Mathew
